She was born May 14, 1946 in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Marvin and Goldie (Selke) Greenwood. She graduated from Logan High School in 1964 and later married and divorced. At a young age, she was a rifle and baton twirler for the La Crosse Drum and Bugle Core. She became an avid horse lover and grew a passion for Shetland sheepdogs that would remain with her throughout her entire life.
She was involved in dog showing and obedience training, which led to successfully generating two Canadian Champion show dogs. She worked many jobs until owning her own Internet store, Gwen's Jewelry and Gifts, until retiring to Missouri, Oklahoma and later Arkansas. For the past 23 years, she was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 595, La Crescent, Minn.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Brian Meyer) Kay Kat of Japan; her three brothers, Darcy Greenwood of La Crosse, Kevin (Sue) Greenwood of La Crescent and Leonard (Janis Smith) Greenwood of La Crescent; her sister, Kerryl (Russ) Greenwood-Quaintance; her soul-mate of 14 years, Gary Iverson; and aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; and nephews. Her parents, Marvin and Goldie Greenwood, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 111 S. Oak St., La Crescent. Pastor Chris Christenson will officiate. Luncheon will follow at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crescent. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Pickwick Cemetery
