Chico Daily Record, Thursday, May 12, 1904, pg 2 col 2: Sudden Death of Mrs. Joe Willett At Berry Creek. Mrs. Maggie Willett, wife of Joe Willett, died suddenly on Sunday evening at the family home at Berry Creek, presumably of heart failure.

Mrs. Willett had been in ill health for about a year past, but there was no thought of her ill health developing into anything serious. She had been attending to her household duties on Sunday and was around as usual. About 6 o’clock in the evening she felt weak and started to retire. She had just reached her bed when the attack came, and with a moan she fell to the floor.

The family, attracted by the noise, rushed to the room and picked her up. She was beyond aid, as death came almost instantly.

Mrs. Willett was aged about 65 years, and was a pioneer of this county. For many years she resided with her husband in this city, and here her children grew up, says the Oroville Register. About eighteen years ago the family moved to Berry Creek and have since resided there. Her sudden demise will be a shock to her many friends, as nothing of the nature was expected.

The funeral took place yesterday at 2 o’clock at her late residence and the interment was in the Berry Creek cemetery.
