He served his country with the U.S. Army in WWII where he was involved in the invasion of Normandy on the 7th wave as a medic, also at Cherbourg and St. Lo. During these campaigns he was awarded three bronze stars. He worked for Rogers Brothers Corporation for 42 years and operated his father's shoe repair business in Albion. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church, Albion; a life long member of the Moose Club, The Albion American Legion and past member of V.F.W. of Albion.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Victoria Swaney and Mary Alexander.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Angeline "Ann" Tucci Malena; three children, Robert Malena, Girard, Pa.; Sally Malena, Towson, Md. and Daniel Malena and his wife, Sandy, Albion; a brother, Frank Malena and wife, Peggy, Erie; and a sister, Lucille Moyer, Conneaut, Ohio; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Interment in Albion Cemetery.
