Aiken.
Charles Benjamin Aiken died Saturday
at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Carl D. Hovey, after several months
illness with Bright's disease. Mr.
Aiken was born in Barnet 61 years ago
and lived there until about 15 years
ago when he came to St. Johnsbury to
make his home. He was in the meat
business in Barnet and had followed
the same business since he came here,
being associated with W. F. Welch
much of the time. On October 19,
1881 he was married at Concord to
Miss Sadie A. Bartlett who died two
years ago next June. Three children
survive their father, Arthur and
Bertha, Mrs. Carl Hovey of St.
Johnsbury,and Maude, Mrs. Ernest Keenan
of South Ryegate. Mr. Aiken also leaves
two brothers, Daniel of Barnet and
William of Boston, and one sister, Mrs.
Frank Lackie of Barnet. The funeral
was yesterday afternoon from the
Hovey home, Rev. F. B. Richards,
pastor of the North church of which
the deceased was a member, officiating,
and interment was at Mount Pleasant.
