Cecil C. Nelson, age 89, of Carmel formerly of Lyford, Indiana passed away November 18, 2009 at Manor Care At Summer Trace Nursing Home in Carmel. He was born on December 13, 1919 in Shelburn, Indiana to Ozro and Mable (Moore) Nelson.

He retired from the Terre Haute US Penitentiary where he worked as a Supervisor of Industries after 23 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran who served our country during World War II.

He was a member of the NARFE, and the VFW Post 6653 in Clinton.

Cecil was preceded in death by both parents, brother, Ray Nelson, and sisters, Hazel Osborne, Betty Jo Nelson, and Margie Akers.

He is survived by his loving wife Rosalie (Begliutti) Nelson whom he married on October 11, 1941; two daughters, Sherilyn Ridgley of Clinton, and Janet Pastorius and husband Ed of Carmel, grandchildren, Sarah Jacobson of Brownsburg, IN, Frank Ridgley of Miami, FL, Ryan Pastorius and wife Heather of Indianapolis, and Megan Smith and husband Jason of Muncie, IN. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Zachary Jacobson and Caitlyn Jacobson both of Brownsburg, IN, a step-great-grandaughter, Antonia Smith, of Muncie and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10am-12pm in Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be at 12pm in the funeral home with Rev.John Mattson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
