"Lock" Kellums was the first child born to Scottsbluff County pioneers, John and Mattie Kellums. He was born on September 17, 1890 and grew to manhood in the Lyman area. He married Margaret C. Covington in Torrington, Wyoming on May 17, 1917. She was the daughter of Robert and Georgiana Covington and was born to them at Exeter, Nebraska. Lock worked most of his life as a cattle rancher. They had no children. Margaret died on March 27, 9160 in Scotts Bluff. Lock lived out his retirement years in Ocala, Marion County, Florida. He celebrated his 89th birthday bowling with friends.
