Known all his life as "Skinner", Clarence Kellums was first married to a neighbor girl, Velma Loriene Lippincott, on December 24, 1924 in Torrington, Wyoming. This marriage ended in divorce within a few years with no children. Then on June 10, 1939, Skinner married Fern Mahelia Miller, a previously married woman.
