Martha Howard Bumgarner, 76, of Mooresville, died May 4, 2011, at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. She was born April 25, 1935, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Haywood Pressley Howard and Ethel Mayhew Howard. She retired from Southern Bell after 32 years of service. She worshipped at First Baptist Church in Mooresville, where she sang in the XYZ Choir. For many years, she worshipped at Mooresville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she taught a Sunday school class, sang in the choir and served as a member of the Mary Grier Circle. She was also a member of the CWA Retired Members Club and Telephone Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Bumgarner.
She is survived by her children, Tony Ray Tousignant and wife, Jane, and Michelle Mack and husband, Kevin; brother, Melvin Howard and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Caroline Maclaga and husband, Josh, William Mack and fiancée, Lauren Kelley, Hannah Mack, Jessica Segobiano and husband, Brad, Andria Harkey, Beth Tousignant and Shawn Tousignant; and great-grandchildren, Blayden Cotten and Naomi Segobiano.
Services were Monday, May 8, at First Baptist Church. Burial followed the service at Glenwood Memorial Park.
