Obituary of James J. Sedlacek

Funeral services for James J. Sedlacek were at 10 am Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Mr. Sedlacek died Sept. 1, 1973 at Valley County Hospital. He was 91. The Rev. Stanley Gorak officiated at the Mass. Burial was in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Sedlacek was a native of Saunders County in Nebraska, born Aug. 5, 1883 to Vaclav and Mary Tomes Sedlacek. At an early age he moved with the family to Custer County and at age 19 he moved to Valley County. On Nov. 7, 1908 he married Mary Parkos at the Geranium Catholic Church. They made their home on a farm in Valley County until retirement in 1950. He was a member of the Catholic church.
He is survived by his widow; four sons Emil of Ord, Vencil of Sunny side, WA., William of Arcadia and Emanuel of Ord; one daughter Mrs. Lydia Oseka, Loup City; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
