Mrs. Jean Stanton
Jean Finlayson was born in Newburgh, Scotland, June 15, 1840, and died in Cameron, Mo., Monday, April 14, 1919, lacking two months and on day of being 79 years of age. She came to America when 14 years of age and settled with her parents near Piano, Ill. After her mother's death she married Thomas Stanton, and they moved to Missouri 51 years ago and settled south of Maysville. Later they moved to Perrin, and in that vicinity she lived until ten years ago when she moved to Cameron.
Mr. Stanton died in 1905, after 10 years of blindness and long suffering and lameness from rheumatism. She was his constant nurse and comfort.
Together they reared to manhood and womanhood a remarkable family in number and sterling worth. There were fifteen children. One died in early infancy, Charlie at 2, Thomas the eldest and Elizabeth died, each at 18 years of age near Perrin. The eleven living are Mrs. Ellen Mallen, Plattsburg; Mrs. Mary Pulliam, Hasting, Kan, Misses Isabelle and Susan Stanton, Cameron; Mrs.Margaret Shipp, Chicago; George Stanton, Lyndon Kan; Hugh at Union Star; William at Atchison, Kan; Robert at King City, Mo. ; James at Lathrop; John at Savannah, Mo.
All of these children except Mrs. Pulliman and Mrs. Shipp were at her funeral services, and they were detained by sickness..
