1931 - 2012
Dolores Adkins Gardner, 81, of Huntington, went to be with her loved ones in Heaven on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington.
She was born April 22, 1931, in Huntington, daughter of the late Peter Nelson and Gladys Irene Gardner.
She worked at Stevens Drug Store for 29 years until her retirement. She was a member of the DAV and VFW Auxiliary in Huntington.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Woodrow Marshall and William Lacy Gardner; three sisters, Maxine Daniels, Eileen Nicholas and Martha Alice Gardner; and one nephew, DeLane Lawrence.
She is survived by one son whom she adored, Jeffrey Bryan Adkins and Brenda of Ashland, three grandchildren who were the light of her life, Sarah, Bryan and Christopher, four great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, Diane (Mark), Danny (Kil-C), Elisha (Mike), Pam (Kenny) and a host of others. She had several special caregivers, great-niece, Pam and Kenny Spry, with whom she lived, nieces, Patti Baxter, Carole and Jim Whitley, and a special friend Mary Scott. Dolores was a beautiful person and always enjoyed helping others. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance Mausoleum, Huntington, by Pastor Dwayne Shugert.
There will be no visitation.
Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.
