KAYSVILLE – Merrill James Brandell, 79, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born June 25, 1932 in Pierre, South Dakota the son of Merrill Franklin and Wallie Allmon Brandell.

Jim served in the Korean War in the United States Marine Corp. Jim married Louise Galbraith on August 31, 1956 in Layton, Utah. He lovingly nicknamed her Weezy.

He was a member of the Jaycee's and the NRA. He liked collecting stamps, coins, books, military medals, elk hunting, gardening and fishing.

Surviving are his wife Louise, son, Bart (Vicki) Brandell, Twin Falls, ID; daughter Cari Brandell (Tom) Zocco, Los Alamos, NM; and nine grandchildren, Nick, Adam, Matt, Brandon, Ryan, Jeremy, Justin, Krista and Tyler.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean Morgan.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
