LINCOLN - Mary Katherine Amberg Dorgan, 89, of Lincoln, died at 6:45 a.m. October 10, 2012, at St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln.
Mary was born on August 13, 1923, in Ashland, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene W. and Celestine Springer Amberg. She married Vincent R. Dorgan on April 30, 1945, in Lincoln, IL at St. Mary's Church. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Diane (Steve) Buse and one son, Kevin Dorgan; daughter-in-law: Mary Dorgan; one brother, James (Shirley) Amberg; four grandchildren, Theresa Markley, Jennifer (Rob) Colborn, Christopher Buse and Katie Buse and four great-grandchildren, Keysen and Jessica Markley and Keaton and Noah Colborn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and two sons, Terry Dorgan and Tim Dorgan.
Mary was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln, St. John's Catholic Church of Middletown, IL and a charter member of the Garden Club. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Elementary School, Lincoln Community High School and graduated in 1943 from Lincoln College. She was very interested in politics, loved to read and was on the W.M.A.Y. talk show who nick named her "Lincoln Lady". Her motto was "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much". Her greatest joy was her entire family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Church of Lincoln, with Rev. Jeffrey Laible officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 with a visitation following from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be given to Holy Family Church of Lincoln or St. Clara's Manor.
