He was born in Henderson on Oct. 11, 1940, the son of Herschel Hooper Peddy and Sarah Frances (Jones) Peddy.
He attended schools in Pinson and graduated from Chester County High School in 1958. He hiked the Appalachian Trail and enjoyed canoeing. He enjoyed reading and wrote a genealogical book about his family called "270 Years of Peddy."
He is survived by son, Glen Peddy of Springfield, Ill.; daughters, Melody (Dave) Nunamaker of Suwanee, Ga., and Mona (Troy) Wonders of Washington, Iowa; sisters, Sandra (Jimmy) Shepherd of Pontotoc, Miss., and Bonice (Shelby) Henson of Bartlett; seven grandchildren, Natasha (Josh) Bryant, Gates Wonders, Gabriela Nunamaker, Preston Peddy, Lane Wonders, Joshua Nunamaker and Carissa Nunamaker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet Rowland Peddy; and a brother, Hensel H. Peddy.
