She was born between 1769-1774, the daughter of Solomon Strickland, Sr. and his wife Amy Pace.

She married by 1800, Madison Co., GA to Robert Higginbotham, who was born about 1770 in Amherst Co., VA.

About 1809-1810, Emily and Robert left Georgia. They reportedly went first to St. Tammany Parish, LA (son Madison Green reported on the 1850 census that he was born about 1814 in Louisiana], but by 1820 they were living in Pike Co., MS:

2. Henry Higginbotham, b. 1802-1804, GA; 1835 left Yazoo Co., MS and left the state. In 1840, he may have been the H. Higginbotham in Blount Co., AL.

Probate Box 41. States that Robt. H. Higginbotham died in the month of September in the year 1831. His son, Henry, obtained letters of Administration with the will annexed, and proceeded to sell the personal estate of the deceased on 28 Mar 1832. The widow Emily Higginbotham, was the purchaser and gave her note for nine months, but never paid. The heirs were satisfied. In 1835, the said administrator left the state and has never returned.

1835 - Henry left Mississippi and hadn't returned by 1843.
