CHILHOWIE, Va. Mattie Mae Blevins McClure, age 87, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Johnston Memorial Hos pital. Mrs. McClure was born in Smyth County, Va., to the late Alonzo Squire Blevins and Bessie Clyde Heath Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Junior McClure; and a beloved son, David Allen McClure. She attended the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was a precious lady of few words with a beautiful smile that expressed the love in her heart. She was always a giver and never a taker. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Rowland and husband, Gayle, Chilhowie, and Debbie Haga and husband Dale, Chilhowie; and a son, John Junior McClure and wife, Tammy, Chilhowie; grandchildren are Pam Rowland, Jason McClure and wife, Amanda; great-grandchild, Jarod Kenney; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wesley Eller officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church.
