"John M. Penington, 59, Rosendale, Mo., died Monday evening at his home.

Born at Lebanon, Mo., he spent most of his life in Rosendale. He was employed as a construction worker for 31 years with the Brunner Construction Co. Mr. Penington was a member of the Rosendale Christian Church, the Carpenters Union, Local No. 110, and the American Legion Post No. 287, Savannah, Mo. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Leveta Penington of the home; four daughters, Jan Penington and Terri Penington, both of the home, and Tina Bonwell and Judy Evans, both of Rosendale; a son, John E. Penington of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Grace Davidson of Savannah, Ethel Collins of Deep Water, Mo., and Katheryn Jackson of Atchison, Kan.; a brother, Carl Penington of Clinton, Mo.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rosendale Christian Church. Burial will be at the Savannah (Mo.) Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be under the auspices of the Dick-Munkres American Legion Post No. 281 of Savannah." St Joseph Gazette, April 25, 1984
