He worked for Simpson Paper Company (Everett Pulp & Paper) as a printer from 1950 until the mill closed in 1972. He then worked for the Marysville Globe as a pressman. In 1975, he went to work for the Everett General Hospital, working in the Purchasing Department. He retired from there in 1990. He and his wife enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV, taking many trips around the states.
