Whitney, 64, of Pineville died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday in Veterans Administration Medical Center, Pineville.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was owner and operator of Alexandria Music Sales for 30 years. He was a native of Bath, Maine. He was a member of a country and western band which opened for the Minnie Peark and Roy Acuff show at the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport.
Survivors include one daughter, Allison W. Watts of Crane, Texas; one stepson, Gary Wayne Michiels of Biloxi, Miss.; one brother, Albert E. Whitney Jr. of Portsmouth, R.I.; one sister, Virginia Gaudet of Bath, Maine; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
