Daughter of Geddes pioneers succumbs
Mrs. Clara Woolson Leyden, daughter of the late Albina and Salina Woolson, pioneer settlers of the Town of Geddes, died last night at her home, 1106 West Genesee Street after a long illness. She was the widow of Hart Leyden, who formerly maintained offices in the Dillaye Building for a dental supply business.
Mrs. Leyden was born in what was formerly the Town of Geddes and she lived on the West Side all her life. Her father formerly owned and managed salt lands in the Town of Geddes.
Mrs. Leyden was a member of the May Memorial Church, the women's Alliance of that church, and the Syracuse Women's Democratic Club. She formerly was active in work of the Visiting Nurse Association and in the woman suffrage movement until her health failed.
She received her education at the Clinton School for Women in Clinton. Her only immediate survivor is a sister, Mrs. Frances Woolson Smith.
The Rev. Dr. John H. Applebee of May Memorial Church will conduct funeral services at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Woolson residence. Burial will take place in the family plot in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
