Mrs. Nancy Maria Williams, wife of W. F. Williams, died at her home near Corning, Mo late Friday, following an illness which had lasted more than three years. Shortly before her death she had suffered a stroke from which she was never able to rally. She was the daughter of Michael and Mary Etta Wennihan- the eldest of thirteen children. Born near Peru, Nebraska July 5, 1866 and died September 29, 1928 aged 62 years, 2 months and 24 days. One sister and three brothers preceded her in death. Her mother died in 1917.
When seven years of age, she moved with her parents from Peru, NB to Atchison County, MO. They lived there a few years then moved to Sharp’s Grove neighborhood north of Crain, MO in Holt County and lived there to grow to womanhood. She was united in marriage the Wm. F. Williams December 10, 1883 and has lived in the vicinity of Milton, Fairfax and Corning all of her married life, with the exception of six months that was spend in Norcator, Kansas.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her aged father, three sisters and four brothers, her husband, one son and three daughters.
The brothers and sisters are: N. S. Wennihan, and Mrs. Vern Gallentine of Norcatur, Kansas; Charles Wennihan of Jennings, Kansas; Steven Wennihan of Hoxic, Kansas; Mrs. Arthur Warner of Havenville, Kansas; John Wennihan and Mrs. W. W. Davis of near Craig, MO.
The surviving children are Claude, Mrs. W. W. Scarlett, Mrs. Sam Grush and Miss Zona, all of Fairfax. In addition there are ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a large number of more distant relatives among whom in an aunt, Mary Cunningham of Omaha, NB and thirty-one nieces and nephews. A son, Clyde Cecil died at the age of two years – born about 1890.
Funeral services were conducted at English Grove Church Sunday afternoon, September 30, by Rev. A. C. Klamm of the Presbyterian Church. She was buried in the English Grove Cemetery.
