Rachel (Rose) was the daughter of Kiwa Moel Sperling and Chaja (Annie) Rostkowski. Her birth name in 1864 in Lomza Poland in Yiddish was Sora Brajna Moel Sperling.

Rose (Rachel or Rochel) Moel (Möl) and her husband Hyman Sperling were married in 1884 near Ostrow or Lomza Poland.

Hyman immigrated to NYC in 1888 or 1889. Rose (Rochel) came 2 years later on the steamship EMS in April 1891 with their 2 oldest daughters Pauline (Pesse) and Dora (Dobe). They lived in the Lower East Side of NYC for several years, and were naturalized in 1908. Later, the family moved to Philadelphia.

They were the parents of 7 children.
