From Cambridge Kaleidoscope dated Friday, May 6, 1898:"Mr. M.D. Bennett died Saturday, April 30, 1898 at the residence of his son, W.P. Bennett, after an illness of about 2 weeks. The deceased was born in Oneida County, NY, Sept 7, 1815 and was a ship carpenter by trade. He was married at Detroit, Michigan, Sept 18, 1842 to Miss Mary Ann Palmer, who passed away July 2, 1886 at their home in Frontier County. He came out from Iowa in 1879 and took claims up in Frontier County and in 1881 he moved his family out. The fruits of his marriage were 3 boys and 4 girls, three of the latter being dead. The funeral was held in the Congregational Church by Rev. Foster on Monday, after which the remains were laid away to await the Great Judgment day. The family have the profound sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliction."
