She was the daughter of Sylvester Briggs (1858-1887) and Eliza J. Flynn Briggs (Casad); she was raised by her mother and step-father, John Sparks Casad. She married George Seymour Cadle on Dec. 27, 1905 in Warren County, Indiana. They had a son, John Philip Cadle, and he died Aug. 27, 1935. Her second marriage was to Emil Morris Combs (sometime in the late 1930's).
