Opal Clayton Beard, 74, son of the late Christopher Beard and Willie James Bass Beard was born 23 Sept 1911 in Green Co. and died at 4:30 pm Tues. 6 May 1986, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was a member of the Liletown United Methodist Church at the time of his death. He united in marriage to Catherine Curry on 5 Sept 1937 who survives. To this union 1 son and 1 daughter were born: Bobby Joe Beard, Greensburg, and Carol Lee London, Center. He is survived by 2 sisters and 3 brothers: Boyce Beard, Orval "Johnnie" Beard, Dee Beard and Mrs. Lee Jeffries, all Greensburg, and Norwood Beard, Campbellsville. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Debbie Joe Bagby, Bobby Beard and Billy Beard, all of Greensburg and Kenneth Lewis Jolly and Melissa Jolly, both of Center, 1 great-grandson: Brandon Ray Bagby, Greensburg; and 1 step-great-grandson, Kenneth Gordon Jolly, Center; along with a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were at 10 am Fri. 9 May with burial in the Old Liletown Cem. The Rev. Bill Hamlett and the Rev. Ricky Bourland officiated. Active pallbearers were: Earnest Coomer, Junior Meadows, Grady Thompson, Odgen McKinney, Woodrow McKinney and R.H. Buckner.
