Mrs. Maren Anderson
Another Aged Pioneer Departed
Wednesday morning after an illness of about a year, Mrs. Maren Anderson, died at the ripe old age of ninety-four years and seven days. She was born at Nesodden Parish, Akershus County, Norway, Oct. 5, 1816. She was married and after a few years was left a widow with a young son, Hans Anderson. In 1869 they came to America and settled in Fillmore County. From there they went to Minneapolis and from there together with her son, came to Belle River, where they remained for about three years and in 1880 moved into Alexandria. She resided for some time with her grandchild and her niece, Mrs. Peter R. Hanson. The last two years she has lived with Hans Antonson. (He was also from Nesodden parish – a relative maybe?) The last year she was bedridden and death must be looked upon as a relief.
The funeral is to be held Friday after noon from the Hans Antonson home on H street (now Hawthorne) across from Fedenburg Mill. Rev. Eidsaa of Hoffman officiating. The remains will be placed at rest in the cemetery south of Nelson. (Hans Antonson and family are also buried there.)

These two links are possible Norwegian genealogy for Maren and her son Hans.

Living at the place Brændingen, in Nesodden, Akershus, Norway, Maren Hansdatter, widow, born about 1817, and her son, day laborer Hans Andreassen, born 1850 in Næsodden parish. Plus a woman named Maren Baltzersdatter, a lodger and seamstress. Probably just living with them.

This is the emigration record showing them leaving Norway from Oslo, checking out of their parish Næsodden, with the destination of Winona (Minnesota). on April 23, 1869. Hans Andreasen, and probably his mother, known as Marie Jensdatter, her maiden name. Also a 23 year old girl named Maren. could have been a relative or could have been traveling with them for safety.

On the 1880 census, Maren Anderson's son has died, and she has moved in to Alexandria with her son's widowed wife, Maren Antonsdatter who had just married Anders Olsen. They must be at the Olsen house at 812 Hawthorne Street (H. Street then) Maren "Mary" Anderson's granddaughter Alida is also there.
She's called the mother-in-law, but she is the mother-in-law of the wife Maren Antonsdatter (Mrs. Anders) Olsen.

I think that her granddaughter's name is Alida Christina or Christina Alida and the maiden name was Anderson.
There are two marriages which are a good match for her in Douglas County:
1.
DOUGLAS F - 83

GEORGE, WILLIAM H
ANDERSON, CHRISTINA
and their daughter Lottie was born about 1897.
Then in 1900 Lida is shown as a widow,

and a marriage for Alida Christine just 4 years later:

Then I think that Alfred and Alida C. Sather moved to Alberta, Canada. I found their names on a list there.
