Mrs. Clara Galloway, 80, died at her home in Pleasant Hill at 3 o'clock Wednesday morning after an illness of a few hours, caused by acute indigestion. Mrs. Galloway was born at Pleasant Hill and had spent her entire life here. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Dodge, and a granddaughter of Dr. Hezekiah Dodge the first physician and surgeon to locate in this section of Illinois. He settled at the village of Bayville 1.5 miles southeast of Pleasant Hill in 1826 and is buried in the Dodge Cemetery on the bank of Bay Creek. Mrs. Galloway was a worthy Christian woman and was honored and respected by all who knew her. She was a member of the Christian Church. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Bee Woods, with whom she lived.
