Mayo L. Galloway, prominent citizen of Pleasant Hill died Friday morning at the Pike County Hospital in Louisiana, Mo., as the result of a heart attack. He had not been well for some time. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, in charge of Rev. Joe Maynard, assisted by Rev. Henry. Burial was in Crescent Heights Cemetery. Mayo L. Galloway, son of A. L. and Marie E. Galloway, was born near Pleasant Hill, December 16, 1883 and departed this life October 29, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 13 days. He was married to Tessie M. Hoover on November 8, 1906 and to this union was born five sons, Harold R., Richard A., Robert L., and Glenn D., one son passing away in infancy. He also had one sister, Carrie L. Brant. Preceding him in death was a brother, Milo E. Galloway, a half-brother, H. Lyman Galloway, and two half-sisters, Anna P. Yokem and Minnie L. DeCamp. He leaves to mourn their loss, his widow, four sons, six grandchildren, a sister and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. Galloway was a good citizen, deeply interested and active in all matters which he felt were to the good of the community. One of his last active interests was the Pleasant Hill Lions Club where he was in attendance when stricken with his last illness. He was a good husband and father and a faithful friend He was interested in good schools and served many terms on the Pleasant Hill Board of Education. He worked untiringly or is township as it's elected supervisor from 1929 to 1939, and served the county as a member of the Board of Review the past three years. In early life Mr. Galloway united with the Christian church of Pleasant Hill under the pastorate of Rev. O. C. Bolman and later transferred his membership to the Methodist Church. A strong believer in the christian way of life he stood ready at all ties to support his church. Deeply appreciative of his many friends, he worked unceasingly in their behalf and to make his community a better place in which to live.
