Mr. Goodman was born in Milton, Northumberland county, in 1839, coming to this city in 1890, where he opened a grocery store at Mulberry street and Prune alley, which he conducted for seventeen years.
In 1907 he sold his store and was later appointed janitor at the Technical High school, holding this position until his death.
He was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church and was a member of the church council for several years.
