Obituary

Mary Christine Putman went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at home. Mary was born on July 18, 1932, in Lauderdale County and made her home in Elgin Crossroads. She was a member of Elgin Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years. Mary was a homemaker who loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Putman was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert L. Hammonds and Eula Idell Bills; along with her sisters, Annette Davis, Bobbie Butler and Sue Hester.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jesse Putman Jr.; sons, Ralph Putman (Paulette), Jimmy Putman (Betty) and Danny Putman (Lisa); sister, Ora Green (Jay); and brother, Junior Hammonds (Delta); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and special friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. at Elkins East Funeral Home in Center Star. Funeral services will follow immediately after with Brother Tommy Smith, pastor of Elgin Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at White and Barkley Cemetery in Rogersville.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend very special thanks to Dr. Webb, Kaye Ray and Lisa Chandler along with many other loving people at Hospice of the Shoals for the wonderful care they gave to Mary.
