Janes- Piety Janes died at her home seven miles east of Dresdsen. Death has made its inroad into our church at Thompson Creek, taken away from us Sister Piety Janes. Sister Janes was born in Kentucky, and moved to Henry County, Tenn., with her parents at an early date. She was born Dec. 11, 1819; died Feb. 20, 1899; aged 79 years, 2 months and nine days. She was married to Edward Janes July 28, 1836. She was a daughter of Horace and Meca Elizabeth Berry. She was the mother of fourteen children; she leaves behind five daughters, one son, a host of relatives and friends to mourn her death. She professed fait in Christ at the age of thirteen and joined Bird's Creek Baptist church, and moved her letter to Center, from there to Thompson Creek where she lived and died a consistent member.
Resolved that in her death the church has lost a consistent member, one that loved to attend the house of the Lord. Resolved that the church and bereaved family have our deepest sympathy, that a copy of these resolutions be spread on the church book, and a copy furnished the family, a copy sent to the Baptist Reflector for publication.
