Betty Cockfield LAKE CITY - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Cock-field, 100, passed away peacefully September 8th, 2009. Mrs. Cockfield was born in Emanuel County, GA on August 25th, 1909. She was a daughter of the late Needham Bryant and Mary Underwood Bryant, and was the widow of the late J. Thomas Cockfield. Mrs. Cockfield was a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church since 1941 and was a homemaker. The family would like to give a special "thank-you" to the staff of Lake City Scranton Nursing Home for their compassionate care shown to Mrs. Cockfield in her times of need. Mrs. Cockfield's surviving family includes her special nieces and neph-ews, Roy B. Cromer, Jr. of Lexington, Dickey Preacher of Kingstree, Ann Sigmon of Midville, GA, Tim Cock-field of Jessup, GA, and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cockfield is preceded in death by her siblings Parker Bryant, Frank Bryant, Dewey Bryant, Britt Elkins, Blanch Kennedy, Maude Cockfield, Susie Durden, Sing Davis, and Jane Johnson. Graveside services for Mrs. Cockfield will be at 11 o'clock a.m., Thursday, September 10th, 2009 in the Lake City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lake City Presbyterian Church, 301 East Main Street, Lake City, South Carolina 29560.
