Funeral services for Mr. James G. Dubuisson, 81, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mr. Dubuisson, a lifelong resident of Opelousas, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Opelousas.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Johnson Dubuisson; a son, James G. Dubuisson III; and two grandchildren, James G. Dubuisson IV and Catherine Nash Dubuisson. Mr. Dubuisson is also survived by two sisters, Josephine Dubuisson Moseley of Opelousas and Rosemary Dubuisson Kilpatrick of Houston,
Texas.

Mr. Dubuisson was preceded in death by two sons, James G. Dubuisson Jr. and John Francis Dubuisson; his parents, Edward B. Dubuisson and Rosa Dupre Dubuisson; seven brothers, Philip Dubuisson, Edward Dubuisson, H. Garland Dubuisson, Richard L. Dubuisson, John F. Dubuisson, Nick D. Dubuisson and Dr. George Dubuisson; and a sister, Isabel Dubuisson Castille.

A graduate of the West Point class of 1940, Dubuisson was a first string back on the Army football team. After his graduation in 1940, he served in the 7th Armored Division during World War II. He participated in the European Invasion as part of General Patton's Third Army and he retired from the Army with the rank of Colonel.

Mr. Dubuisson was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star With Two Oak Leaf Clusters, and his unit received the Belgian Croix de Guerre. Following his return to Louisiana, he entered Tulane Law School and upon graduation, he returned to Opelousas to begin the practice of law with the family firm. A dedicated full-time attorney until his recent illness, he served as President of the St. Landry Parish Bar Association, and was a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the St. Landry Parish Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. Thursday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Highway in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
