FUNERAL SERVICES WEDNESDAY 2:00 P.M. AT HOME OF FATHER, 416 S. PIKE STREET.
HUSBAND, FATHER SURVIVE
Dropsy and leakage of the heart caused the death of Mrs. Melville Laughans this morning at 2:50 o'clock at the home of her father, Rufus Miller, 416 South Pike Street. She had been in failing health since January.
Mrs. Laughans was born in Johnson County, near Jollity, February 14, 1883, the daughter of Rufus and Matilda Jane Miller, and was at the time of death, 51 years, one month and 19 days old. In July, 1913, she was married to Mr. Laughans, who survives.
Survivors besides the father and husband, are two brothers, Bert of this city, and Clyde Miller, of Warsaw, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; two uncles, Tilford and Harve Williams, both of Indianapolis, and two aunts, Mrs. Frank Snyder of this city and Mrs. Charles Merman of Coffeyville, Kansas.
Up until the time of her marriage, Mrs. Laughans had been a resident of this city and since that time she had resided in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Laughans came to this city from Chicago, during the illness and death of Mrs. Laughan's mother, December 7, 1933.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of this city, and of Kosmos Lodge of Eastern Star, No 613, of Chicago.
Last rites will be held at the home of her father, 416 South Pike Street, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. L.T. Freeland, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of this city.
Burial will be in the family lot in Forest Hill Cemetery in charge of C.F. Fix & Son Funeral Directors.
Friends may call at the late home any time after 5:00 o'clock this evening.
