Daughter of John N. and Lucy Bucklin Beardsley. She married Charles Delos Wilkie in 1865. He died in 1896 and sometime after that Sophia married a Mr. Waite. It appears this second marriage did not last long because by 1910 she is widowed again and living in Washington, D.C. with her daughter and son-in-law, Lucie and Dr. Leigh Y. Baker. No record of her again until the 1930 U. S. Federal Census which shows her, age 85, living with her widowed daughter, Lucy, 62, in the Burlington Hotel Apartments in Washington, D. C.
