Emmett was born in Ontario, CA and had served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, of which he was very proud. He was a graduate of the Mackey School of Mines at the University of Nevada, Class of 1951. He had spent the first part of his professional career as a mine engineer and then worked as a mineral examiner for the U. S. Forest Service from which he retired after 24 years.
Emmett was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne. The two of them were long-time members of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Redding.
Emmett is survived by his son, Douglas of Redondo Beach, CA; his two daughters, Carol Wiener of Palm Desert, CA, Rebecca Mueller of Miami, FL; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Hermosa Beach at 10:00 AM. An additional service will be held in Redding at a later date.
