Santos C. Griego, age 84, of Bedford, Indiana and formerly of Anthony entered eternal life Monday, March 25, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 22, 1917 in Anthony to Ignacio Griego and Delfina Contreras Griego. Mr. Griego was a retired farm laborer and a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include six sons, Ruben Griego of Albuquerque, Raymundo Griego of Bakersfield, California, Santos P. Griego of Bedford, Indiana, Michael Griego of North Hollywood, California, Gabriel Griego of Las Cruces and Chris Griego of Chamberino; four daughters, Maria Magdalena Avalos of Las Cruces, Delfina Aguirre of Reno, Nevada, Antonia Sanchez of Anthony and Michelle Senda of Cornelius, Oregon; two brothers, Ignacio and Jacobo Griego both of Chamberino; one sister, Antonia Gardea of Anthony. Other survivors include twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; twelve great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Consuelo Griego; two sisters, Prajedes Sanchez and Herminda Gomez.

A Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue with the Reverend Thomas Devine, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Internment followed in Anthony Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers were Ray, Ruben, Santos P., Gabriel, Chris and Santos Griego Jr. Baca's Funeral Chapels.
