At first glance her name may appear as Elisah on her hand inscribed tombstone. If you enlarge the photo of her tombstone and look closely you will see that someone carved her first name as Elisabth, apparently trying to spell Elisabeth. She was listed as Elisabeth or Elizabeth on every census on which she appeared from 1870 to 1910. She was listed as Bettie, a nickname for Elisabeth, when she married Eli Brown on March 3, 1898. They were the parents of at least two children, McKinley and Annie Brown. Documentation follows:
