BUDA, Ill. -- Services for Leon I. Jontz, rural Buda, will be 11 a.m. today at Buda United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda, with military services by Buda American Legion Post 261. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Buda. He died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at his home. He retired from farming in 1980. He was born Sept. 10, 1923, in rural Buda. He married Esther Hammer in 1945 in Buda. He served in the Navy during World War II as an electricians mate 3/C. He also served on the USS Pensacola in the Pacific Theater. Memorials may be made to Buda Rescue Unit. Survivors include his wife, Esther, Buda; a daughter, Donna Tanner, Davenport; a son, Larry, Rolla, Mo.; and a brother, Homer, Buda.
