Stella Mary Strawn Stone, 99, 515 Woodland, died early Monday at North Village Park.
She was born September 7, 1885, in Slater and was the daughter of John and Alice Strawn. the family moved to Miami, missouri where her father pastored a Christian Church. Mrs. Stone was the first person baptized in the Miami church her father helped to build.
Mrs. Stone moved to the moberly and Higbee area in 1899 and taught school in Higbee from 1905 to 1908. She taught in the Moberly area from 1908 to 1915. She married Attorney Wilbert Benjamin Stone, June 30, 1915, in Moberly. They purchased the Randolph county Abstract Co. in 1927.
Mrs. Stone had been active in church work with Central christian of Moberly for 85 years, Serving as sunday School superintendent and teacher of a Sunday School class up to May 1984. In 1982 Mrs. Stone was named the first and only Suday Superintendent Emeritous. She was also active in Ladies Aid and Women's Group serving as President. Mrs. Stone was also active in the State Organization as well. Mrs. Stone taught public speaking to Moberly business people for several years.
Surviving are one son, James Lloyd Stone of Moberly; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in desath by her husband and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Central Christian Church. Rev. Don Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Million-Taylor funeral Home here.
