He was born January 21, 1948 in Burlington, North Carolina, the son of Buster M. and Bessie Mae Brittle Simmons.
Sandy served in the United States Marine Corps for 7 years and came to Fayetteville to be a Marine Corp Recruiter. He loved NASCAR, collecting guns and sharks teeth at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was proud to have finally graduated from College at the age of 50. He was a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church, MENSA and Triple 9 Society.
He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, Eric Simmons and daughter, Anna.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Simmons; one daughter, Nancy Woodward and her husband, Rusty of Farmington; one grandson, Garrett Woodward, his father, Buster Simmons and his dachshund, Buster, named after his dad.
Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 - 11:00 A.M. at Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
