Alva Raymond Johnson, Sr., 91, died Dec. 15, 1980, in his West Lafayette residence. Born in Lafayette, he lived most of his life in Tippecanoe County. In 1909 he married Vonetia V. Shroyer; she died in 1972. Mr. Johnson was a truck driver for Kessener Lumber Co. and Henry Poor Lumber Co., retiring in 1954.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Cavanaugh of West Lafayette, Gladys (Mrs. Daniel F.) McKee of Lafayette, Alta (Mrs. Burt) Pearson of Sandusky, OH; and Susie (Mrs. Stanley) Austin of Mellott; and a son, Alva R. Johnson, Jr. of Lafayette. Service Dec. 18, Landis-Loy Chapel, Alfred A. Bollock officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
