Douglas man dies a week after accident.
Virgil T. Kress, 46, Douglas, a passenger injured in a one-car accident near his home Nov. 18, died Saturday.
The death of Kress is the latest in a series of unfortunate events suffered by his family. Almost a year ago, Kress' 22 years old son, Douglas, was killed in a one-vehicle crash in rural Otoe County. Virgil Kress was also badly injured in a crash nearly 30 years ago that killed his father. On Thanksgiving Day in the late 1960's, Virgil lost two sisters in a car crash in Lincoln. In the 1970's, Virgil's brother Harvey died in a Kansas car crash; in the mid-1980's another brother Ken died in a car crash in Adams.
Virgil was born in Beatrice, did concrete work and worked construction.
Services:memorial servcies at 1:30 p.m. Saturday Dec. 1, 2007 at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Sterling. A family prayer services will be at 1:15 p.m. in the fellowship room of the church. A. memorial has been established to the family's choice with Zink-Fox Funeral Home in charge.
The body has been cremated. A register book will be available at Zink-Fox Funeral Home from noon- 8p.m. Friday Nov. 30, 2007 and then Saturday at the church one hour preceding the services. A guest book for signatures and messages of condolence is available online. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling in charge of arrangements.
