Born in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland as Hannah Marie Smith. She Immigrated to US about 1919, and then married Edward Joseph O'Kane about 1920/1921. They raised their two sons, Edward Joseph Jr. and John Edward, in East Newark, NJ. Marie died in 1972 in Nutley, NJ and was survived by her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law Sally Maxwell O'Kane, and four grandchildren. Marie is buried in Holy Cross RC cemetery, North Arlington. Both her son, Edward, and her husband are interred there with her (although Ned's name was never added to the headstone following his burial).
