Justice Dept. Budget Director Adrian Fogel Curtis, 55, who had been budget staff director of the U.S. Justice Department since 1983, died of stomach cancer, August 18, 2002, at her home in Bethesda, MD.
Before joining the Justice Department, she was budget director of the U.S. Customs Service and a budget analyst for the Office of Management and Budget. Ms. Curtis was a native of Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1965 from Smith College, cum laude, and received a master's degree from the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
She began her government career in 1971 with the Labor Department. She received the Justice Department's top awards for senior Career Civil Servants.
She was a member of the Bethesda Jewish Congregation.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Gerald Killian and their son, Matthew Killian, both of Bethesda, MD; four stepchildren, Kevin Killian, Dean Killian, Steve Killian and Chris Killian; her parents, Hal and Clara Fogel of Kansas City, MO; and a brother, Richard Fogel of North Potomac, MD.
