O.L. Chenoweth, Jr. Oscar Long (O.L.) Chenoweth, Jr. June 3, 1919-April 18, 2010 O.L was a resident of Midland since 1950 and passed away on Sunday after a brief illness. His friends and family will remember O.L. as a WWII Navy veteran, a graduate of the University of Texas as a Petroleum Engineer, and a long time member of First Presbyterian Church.

In the military, he saw action in the South Pacific as an officer on submarines. He worked in the West Texas oil fields as a Drilling Engineer for W.A. Moncrief , Drilling Superintendent for Montex Drilling Company, and was an independent Operator for many years. Everyone that knew him recognized his intelligence and integrity in all matters. He served his community as a City Council Member on the Planning and Zoning Committee, as an Exchange Club Member, and contributor to the University of Texas Petroleum Engineering Department. He loved hunting, bass fishing, and golf.

O. L. was preceded in death by his son Robert James Chenoweth, his wife of 49 years, Mattie Lois Chenoweth, and his sister Mackey Brownfield. He is survived by his son Grover Chenoweth of Ranger and his daughter Gail Chenoweth of Houston. He will be missed by his many friends, but particularly by his very close friend, Phyillis Grimland of Midland. Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church. A reception at the church will follow the Memorial Service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers for his service include, Mr. Dow Hamm, Mr. Bob Bonner, Mr. Roy Davidson, Mr. Jack James, Mr. Frank Qualia, Mr. Carl Brown, and Dr. Gregory Bartha all of Midland, Texas and Dr. Paul Dean of Pilot Point, Texas.
