Second husband of Jennie Mae Enlow Bascom. Married 30 Dec 1923 in Shelbina, Shelby Co., Missouri.

Alfred John Stroud, Jr. a Professional Photographer came to Shelbina, Missouri in the year of 1918 from Kansas.

Son of Dr. A.J. Stroud. Sr. born 3 Jun 1834 in Riverhead, Kent, England and Hannah Atkins Stroud born 9 December 1833 in Crowland Lincolnshire, England. At the age of 3 years, A.J. Stroud with his parents moved from Canada to Detroit, Michigan and later settled in Emporia, Kansas. At age 17 years A.J. Stroud Jr. took up photography starting with tin types, progressing to glass plates then to modern film. He also practiced the fine art of photography on silk such as handkerchiefs, etc..including retouching, oil and water color and copy work of all kinds.

After he married widow Jennie Mae Enlow Bascom they ran the business together in the studio until his retirement in 1957 at the age of 97 years old.

Summer of 1923 Jennie took daughter Lillian to Stroud's Studio in Shelbina to have her picture taken and it was then this couple met each other. Jennie and Lillian were living in Sedalia, Missouri at this time. Jennie and Alfred wrote to each other after they left the studio and married in Dec. 1923.

When Alfred reached his 100th birthday there was an open house and the businessmen presented him with 100 silver dollars. flowers all over the place and cards sent, a stack of them. People came and went from 9a to 10p. Alfred enjoyed the day so much and said it was the happiest day of his life.

Alfred was a wonderful person and loved by all who knew him.
