Archer Warhurst 80 year-old pioneer Oklahoma contractor, died Friday at his home, 719 Northwest Sixteenth Street.
Coming to Oklahoma in 1899 from Nebraska, Warhurst built many of the principle business buildings of Blackwell and Granfield. He also constructed the three original houses on the' Big V' Ranch in Kay County, and the Blackwell Baptist building at Price's Falls.
During the war, he was foreman over finishing work in the DuPont plant at Nashville, Tenn. Nine years ago he came to Oklahoma City to live with his daughter, Mrs. Fred B. Davis, and his son James Warhurst.
Warhurst was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Trinty Baptist Church. Besides the daughter and son, four of his 15 brothers and sisters survive. They are two brothers, Charles, Granfield, and James, Los Angeles, Calif. and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Teague, Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Kate Braly, Blackwell.
The body will be taken to Blackwell for services and burial Sunday. City arrangements are in charge of the Garrison Funeral Home.
