Deceased Name: FAIRBURY - Aaron Donald Steidinger

FAIRBURY - Aaron Donald Steidinger, 92, of Fairbury, founder of a tire service, died at 3:05 a.m. yesterday (Feb. 5, 1991) at Fairview Haven, Fairbury, where he had lived for 2 years.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Fairbury United Methodist Church, the Rev. Richard Mick officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 tonight by Tarbolton Masonic Lodge 351, Fairbury, at the memorial home.
Mr. Steidinger was born July 12, 1898, in Fairbury, a son of Bartholomaus "Bartel" and Leah Stoller Steidinger. He married Arlene Entwistle May 7, 1927, in Peoria. She died Dec. 27, 1984.

Survivors include two sons, James and Richard A. Steidinger, both of Fairbury; three sisters, Edna Mitchell, Merritt Island, Fla.; Rachel Saathoff, Fairview Haven, Fairbury; and Cynthia Butler, Peoria; one brother, Nathan Steidinger, Fairbury; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

One daughter, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Steidinger, a lifelong resident of Fairbury, founded Steidinger Tire Service Inc. in Fairbury in 1926 and retired in 1977. His two sons continue the dealership.
He was a World War I Navy veteran, serving at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station as a cook.

Mr. Steidinger was a member of the Fairbury United Methodist Church; Fairbury American Legion Post; Knoll Lodge of Fairbury; a member and past master of the Tarbolton Masonic Lodge 351; Fairbury Chapter 9; member and past commander of St. Paul Commandery 34, Fairbury; Mohammed Temple Shrine, Peoria; and Scottish and York Rite bodies.

Memorials may be made to his church or a charity of the donor's choice.
