Alston M. Boyd Sr., draftsman and electrical engineer, died early yesterday morning, December 22, at his home. He was 66 and had been in failing health for several years.

Born at Raliegh, TN, Mr. Boyd had lived in this area all his life. He was a graduate of Oklahoma Polytechnical Institute and for many years was an electrical instructor at Tech High School. More recently he was a draftsman for the United States Public Health Service here.

In the early days of radio, Mr. Boyd set up one of the first radios in Memphis to pick up out-of-town stations. He was a Presbyterian.

He leaves two sons, Irby H. Boyd of Memphis and Comdr. Alson M. Boyd Jr. of the Navy, stationed in Brooklyn, and two daughters; Mrs. Robert J. Leckey of Los Angeles and Miss Camille B. Boyd of Jackson, TN; his brother, W. Graham Boyd of Memphis, and three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn B. Gilbert, Mrs. Robert W. Ramsey Sr., and Mrs. Horace Smith of Memphis.
